Do you need a porta potty during a home remodel?
You need a porta potty during a home remodel when the house's only toilet is out of service, when the main sewer line is being replaced, or when your contractor's crew should not use the house bathroom. A single standard unit in the driveway covers a family and a small crew for a week.
Common Akron cases: an older home with one bathroom being gutted, a sewer lateral replacement that shuts off every drain, a septic system repair, a water main break, or a basement flood. Many remodelers in Summit County ask the homeowner to provide a unit for the crew.
Where to put a porta potty at a house
Put a porta potty at the edge of the driveway or in a side yard, on firm and level ground within 25 feet of where our truck can park. Do not plan to roll it into the backyard after delivery: a full unit is heavy, tips easily, and the service truck must still reach it every week.
- Face the door away from the street and the neighbor's windows.
- Avoid low spots where water pools after rain.
- Keep it clear of the garage door swing and the dumpster drop zone.
- Check your HOA rules; some Hudson and Green subdivisions limit how long a unit can stay.

Sewer line breaks and septic failures
When a sewer line breaks or a septic system fails, call before noon and we can usually set a porta potty the same day. Families with older homes in Firestone Park, North Hill and West Akron call most often for lateral replacements, which can leave the house without drains for 2 to 5 days.
Flat same-day fee: $95. The rental is the standard 28-day price; if the repair takes 3 days, call for pickup and no new cycle starts. See same-day porta potty delivery.
What a porta potty costs for a home project
A porta potty for a home project costs from $165 for 28 days plus a one-time $75 delivery and pickup charge in Summit County, before Ohio sales tax. Weekly cleaning is included. A two-week bathroom remodel costs the same as four weeks, because billing runs in 28-day cycles.

Home remodels & repairs: questions renters ask
Will my HOA allow a porta potty in the driveway?
Most Summit County HOAs allow a unit during active construction. Some set a time limit or ask for side-yard placement. Check your HOA rules before delivery; we can move the spot at the weekly service visit.
Will the neighbors smell it?
A serviced unit with deodorizer rarely smells beyond a few feet. Weekly service, shade in summer and a closed lid keep odor down. Place it away from the property line when you can.
Can I padlock the porta potty at night?
Every unit has a hasp for your own padlock. Leave the code or a key for our technician, or unlock it on service day.
Will the truck damage my lawn or driveway?
The truck stays on the driveway or street and the unit is carried or hand-trucked the last few feet. Soft lawns can rut, so we avoid driving on grass.
Can I return it early if the plumber finishes fast?
Call for pickup whenever the job ends. No new cycle starts after you call, but the rental is priced per 28-day cycle, so an early return does not lower the first cycle's price.
Does the porta potty need water or electricity?
A standard porta potty needs no water, power or plumbing. It is fully self-contained and ready to use when the driver leaves.
